108.18 - Pancetta rouletteThe nose has dusty earth, farmyard notes and a little lychee. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has earthiness - dry dusty trails alongside fields, with hints of lemon and barley sugar water. The finish is dry, dusty earth and a hint of lemon.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains barley sugar water and lemon, and loses the lychee. The body gains sharper lemon notes and a hint of lime, but the dusty earthiness remains. There’s also a curious umami note. The finish gains a hint of lime.

An excellent lighter peated whisky from an unexpected source.

One for spring evenings.

Technical score: 4/5

Personal preference: I’d have another dram.
