2.115 - Riverbank reverie

12 years old, distilled 29th September 2006, 61.9% abv, First Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel, 192 bottles, dram price C

2.115 - Riverbank reverieThe nose has toffee, honey and teacakes. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has toffee, lemon, vanilla and marshmallows. The finish has lemon and vanilla.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles into brief mottling. The nose gains lemongrass and hay notes, and loses the teacakes and some of the toffee. The body gains fresh cut grass, honey and loses the toffee and marshmallows. The finish gains more lemon and some honey.

A fresh, vibrant dram.

One for summer afternoons, lazing in the shade of a tree.

Technical score: 4/5

Personal preference: I’d have another dram.
