26.128 - A wildcat did purr (or A salty chalk-mallow)

7 years old, distilled 19th September 2011, 60.4% abv, Second Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel, 240 bottles, dram price B

SMWS 26.128 - A wildcat did purrThe nose has waxed lemons, lime, grapefruit and vanilla. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has lemon sherbet, lime, grapefruit, and a stony mineral note in the background. The finish has lemon and vanilla.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains furniture wax and loses the lime. The body gains mango and some more wax, and loses the lime. The finish gains some mango.

Not complicated, but this has everything I like in a young Clynelish. Simply superb.

One for spring afternoons. Although I’d happily drink it anytime...

(Note: This has a different name on its label to the name in the Outturn. I have placed the label name first.)

Technical score: 4.5/5

Personal preference: I’d like more than one bottle.
