10 years old, distilled 30th October 2008, 55.9% abv, Refill Ex-Bourbon Hogshead, 80 bottles, dram price B

The nose has red apples, fading pot pourri, and lemon juice. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has lemon, lime, geraniums and a little cinnamon. The finish has lemon, pot pourri and cinnamon.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains more pot pourri and loses a little of the lemon. The body gains more lemon, and loses the cinnamon. The finish loses the cinnamon initially, but it builds on repeated tastings.

This is more sweet than spicy, but when the spice does arrive it’s not shy about it.

One for autumn afternoons.
