SMWS G15.19 - Sweet Shop on the BeachThe nose has sugar-dusted lemon travel sweets, toffee pennies and a hint of fresh oak. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has fresh oak, lemon bon-bons and hints of almonds. The finish has more lemon, fine sugar dusting and a hint of oak.

Water brings out thick, compact whorling that less settles into mottling than simply fades away slowly. The nose gains hints of meadow flowers (fabric softener?), and a little sea breeze. The body gains more lemon and oak and a touch of pot-pourri. The finish gains a touch more oak - driftwood? - and a little hint of marzipan.

This is a sweet, lemony and oaky delight - it’s not complicated, but it doesn’t need to be.

A superb dram for summer afternoons.

Technical score: 4.5/5
Personal preference: I’d like more than one bottle.
