SMWS 41.117 - Bananas, brazils and spicy thrillsThe nose has banana, mixed nuts, toffee and marzipan. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has vanilla, marzipan, toffee and caramel, with lemon and ginger towards the end. The finish has lemon, toffee, caramel and ginger.

Water brings out tight, thin whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains more toffee and loses the banana. The body gains old oak furniture, more mixed nuts and marzipan, and loses the vanilla. The finish gains more ginger and some old oak furniture.

A decent whisky, but all the flavours are oak influenced - in that regard it’s a little uninteresting. If you like your bourbon wood, this is your kind of dram. Otherwise, it’s not worth seeking out.

One for autumn afternoons.

Technical score: 3/5

Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
